Things to do in Barichara: a one, two or three day plan

Barichara has no theme park and no list of tickets to buy. What you do here is walk: stone, chapels, canyon edges and a centuries old royal road.

In town

  1. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on the main square, held up by ten monolithic columns five meters tall.
  2. The chapel of Santa Bárbara at the top of town, and the chapel of Jesús Resucitado beside the cemetery.
  3. The cemetery, with tombs and grilles carved from the same yellow stone as the streets.
  4. The viewpoint, a walkway of about 600 m between the Jorge Delgado Sierra and Rafael Ortiz Prada parks.
  5. The Emilio Pradilla González culture house, with a tourist information point and a room of fossils.
  6. The birthplace of Aquileo Parra, president of the United States of Colombia from 1876 to 1878, at the southern end.
